Teddy Bear's Picnic

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Event Date: 26th May 2018- 28th May 2018

Teddy Bear's Picnic storytelling in the sunshine

If you go down to the railway… bring teddy for stories, music and family fun. All teddies will need a ticket for travel, so don’t forget to pick one up from the booking office for teddy!

Pick up an activity sheet map and colouring pencils - what can you spot along the way?  Please share your pictures with us @BodminGeneral on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

We welcome back Isabella Necessity who’ll be keeping us all entertained with stories on and off the train. Isabella is a bicycling botanist, and accompanied by her handsome Story Bicycle called Dilys, she loves to share stories from her incredible journeys around the world with the people she meets along the way including tales of trains, travel and adventure.

Don’t forget to stock up on delicious picnic supplies from the cafes at Bodmin General and Bodmin Parkway, and if the weather is fine, take advantage of the grassy picnic area down at Boscarne Junction as an alfresco alternative to an on-train picnic.

And this family-friendly bank holiday outing is even open to your four-legged family members. Dogs are welcome, so Rover can come too with a £1 ticket (but no paws on the seats!).

You can buy tickets for travel on the day from the booking office at Bodmin General, or with cash from the ticket inspector on the train. Explore six and a half miles of track with a Freedom of the Line ticket - pay once and travel all day!

We will be running trains to this timetable over the course of the weekend:

The 'Service' train will comprise our usual 1950s coaches and the 'B Vans' train will be formed of our goods brake vans.  These were used on freight trains and have open verandahs and are a great way to see the line.  This train will be pulled by 'Judy' - our small green steam engine who used to work locally at Par docks and who featured in the Reverend Awdry's 'Thomas' books.
